AB Short term monitoring of numerous water reservoirs in the area of Vseboricky lalok(district Usti nad Labem, North-western Bohemia) was started as a partial study requested for considering the future use of the territory devastated by coal gas industry. Water chemistry of industrial water reservoirs has been strongly affected especially by coal mining in the surrounding area and by wastewaters rich in ammonium and phenol derivatives from industrial production. Coal gas production stopped in 1995. This study describes algal communities eight years after the termination of coal gas production. The study will serve to the town council of Usti nad Labem in their decision about the future exploitations of the area.
