AB Jaroslava Komarkova, an important Czech hydrobiologist and algologist and our dear colleague, passed away on August 19, 2017, at the age of 79.She was born on January 20, 1938 in Prague as one of three children. She graduated from Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Sciences in 1961. The subject of her study was Scientific biology and chemistry (with special orientation to phycology) and her diploma thesis "Systematics of the genus Ankistrodesmus Corda" was elaborated under the supervision of Prof. Bohuslav Fott.
